The first thing that strikes you is the structure itself; absolutely breathtaking, free form art in shiny metal. Gorgeous but can it "sing?" The acoustics are excellent right up to the highest, furthest seats. The stage and lighting are generous and professional. Lots of easy parking; if requested, volunteers will "golf cart" you to the door. Situated on the Bard College campus, which is a magnificent, sculptured garden; have a picnic and then go to the theater.
I am hesitant to say some of this, mostly because The Fisher Center hosts speakers of the utmost caliber, and their employees are gracious, kind and helpful. However, I also believe in honesty and transparency.
I recently purchased tickets to see an acclaimed author give a 5-series lecture on writing. I've seen two of the lectures so far, and they've been wonderful; Inspiring to me as a writer, in fact. My concerns pertain to the premium package I purchased (for an extra $800 I couldn't really afford but bought anyway). That package included a special reception with the author afterward.
In my experience, the premium package wasn't worth the money. I was rushed to get into the signing line first, the author wrote a single word in my book, didn't speak or respond to me, and didn't even look me in the eye. I'm still glad I bought tickets for the lectures, but I wish I'd completely avoided the signing.
Beautiful campus, beware of ticks in season. Theatre building is gorgeous!

Excellent venue to see a reasonably priced play. We saw A Christmas Story by a very innovative troupe. It was second to none! Very professional production including the highly competent support crew and staff of Bard College. A beautiful campus in the equally beautiful Upper Hudson Valley of NY. I highly recommend going here!
Amazing-awesome venue.. Just saw John Cameron Mitchell here and the Spiegeltent was perfect for this show.
There are so many performances here year round, but summer at Fisher Center just has a special vibe that shines. Just come see any performance and you'll understand what a special place this is!
